Things I like at the moment..

In the last few weeks, I have been addicted to two very different things - Onitsuka Tiger shoes and Coconut Oil.

Onitsuka Tiger
I knew about Onitsuka Tiger from my second brother in about few years ago. He has more than five pairs of Onitsuka Tiger shoes among his shoes collection. At that moment, I really didn't interested on that shoes at all. I was more interested in girly-type shoes, such as flat shoes, wedges and stilettos.
But, in the last few weeks, I don't know how, suddenly I became addicted to this Onitsuka Tiger shoes. At first, I like the purple one, but when I wanted to buy it online, I saw very different and very nice other colors and other types of that shoes. Its various types made me more addicted to it. I really wish I could have all of them, which is impossible. But, I will make sure that I have at least some pairs of that shoes. Really need to work hard to make the wish come true.

Here's short story about Onitsuka Tiger
Onitsuka Tiger is one of the oldest shoe companies in Japan, tracing its history back to the formation of Onitsuka Co Ltd in 1949 when the 32 year old former military officer, Onitsuka started his company with the hopes of raising postwar youth self-esteem through athletics.
Onitsuka Tiger’s first product was a basketball shoe resembling a straw sandal in many ways. The design was discarded by many and Onitsuka returned to the design stage to better acclimate his shoes for the way in which basketball players started and stopped on the floor. By adding cups and small spaces in the soles of his basketball shoes, Onitsuka made a more effective shoe in 1952 which soon became popular throughout Japan.

Since Onitsuka Tiger was incorporated in 1949, shoes have been created for football, running, martial arts, basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, cross-training, track and field, wrestling, golf, cricket, fencing, and tennis. The most famous brand of Onitsuka Tiger shoes is the striped Mexico 66 Line.
ASICS still sells vintage style Onitsuka Tiger shoes, including the Mexico 66, worldwide. They stay true to their roots with the Onitsuka Tiger label.

Coconut Oil
Here's the other story about another thing that I like. I like coconut oil because they say that coconut oil can make your hair grow faster and can give beautiful affect to your skin and your hair.
Since I was a little girl, I always want to have long hair. But, my hair is the typical dry hair, which will break I make it longer. Now, I heard that coconut oil could help my hair to grow beautifully, so I really want to try it. I've been using the coconut oil in about one week and I hope it will give good effect to my hair.
Besides using it on my hair, I also use it on my body because it could also make my skin beautiful. Due to I have a new boyfriend, I think I really need to take good care of my body so that he will like me more and more everyday ;)

Short story about coconut oil
Coconut oil is famous worldwide not just as an edible oil and hair tonic, but also as an excellent massage oil and smoothener for the skin. What makes coconut oil so special for the skin?
Let us look into the constituents of coconut oil and their respective properties that make it useful for the skin.
  • Saturated Fats: Predominantly, these are Medium Chain Fatty Acids or Triglycerides. When applied on skin, they keep the skin smooth to touch. Due to the presence of these fats, coconut oil also retains the moisture content of the skin, as the fats check escaping of the moisture through the pores on skin. When ingested (through regular consumption of coconut oil), these fats deposit under the skin, thus keeping it healthy.
  •  Capric Acid/Caprylic Acid/Lauric Acid: They are not different from the medium chain fatty acids; still it was important to mention them separately here since they have their own contributions. These three fatty acids have strong disinfectant and anti-microbial properties. As a result, when applied on skin, coconut oil protects skin from microbial infections. This microbial action can be experienced even if coconut oil is taken internally, as the fatty acids boost up the immunity when converted to monocaprins and monolaurins.
  • Vitamin-E: The contributions of vitamin-E towards skin are well known. It is essential for a healthy skin growth, repair of wear & tear of the skin, keeping skin smooth and protection against cracking and above all, it prevents ageing and wrinkling of skin, as it has good anti-oxidant properties. 100 g of coconut oil has about 0.1 mg of vitamin E  thus enhancing it skin nourishing properties.
  • Proteins: Like coconut, coconut oil is rich in many proteins. These proteins keep skin healthy and rejuvenated, both internally and externally.

The best property of coconut oil that makes it so great for the skin is that it does not go rancid. So when you apply it on the skin, it can work longer unlike many other oils without itself getting rancid. Due to these various beneficial properties of coconut oil, it is used as an important ingredient in several skin care creams.
Coconut oil can be used for skin care in the following ways:
  • Skin softener: Most of us use several creams and lotions for softening our skin, especially the face and hands. Coconut oil is a great skin softener and helps you do away with a dry and hard skin. Just take some coconut oil on your palms, rub your palms against each other once or twice and then on your face or hands wherever you want to have its moisturizing effect. Coconut oil is also good for hardened and cracked feet (which may happen due to excessive cold or hard work). The cracks in your feet will not just vanish but your feet will also become soft within days with the application of coconut oil on the affected area.
  • Lip gel: Sometimes, we are worried with the cracks in our lips. When we put some chemical gels, we are worried about the gels being consumed by us. Some gels may be edible, but still we don't want to eat these chemicals. Coconut oil comes as a great rescue in such cases. It acts quickly and even if it goes in your stomach, it will only be beneficial to you.
  • Makeup remover: Coconut oil can also be used a makeup remover. This is not pretty common, but women have now started using it for removing the makeup. It can also be used for removing eye makeup.
  • Anti-aging cream: Traditionally coconut oil has been known for its anti-aging properties.
  • Skin disorders: It is claimed that coconut oil is good for several skin disorders such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema. Several readers have reported this benefit. However, scientifc research is yet to be conducting proving or disproving these claims.
How to use Coconut Oil?
For many, who have never used coconut oil earlier, using it is quite confusing. Try to buy coconut oil in jar which has a broad opening. In colder climates, coconut oil can be solid (like cream). At warm temperatures it is liquid. For skin care usage, take some coconut oil (whether solid or liquid) on your palm. Then rub your palms with each other and then on your skin. You can also put the coconut oil on a piece of cotton and rub the cotton on your skin.
