People in my country always think that it is very awesome to work in other country, like Australia. But the facts that I found are totally different from what I used to think and what my relatives think about me living in Australia. It is not as cool as you think of. Living in Australia as a "new comer" is shocking. You need to stand up for yourself, you need to do everything on your own and the most shocking thing is you can't get job like you want. Even tough you have a bachelor degree or a master degree, but if you didn't get your degree from Australian institution, you can't get job. The job that can you get is just being a waitress or taxi driver or cleaner, which is you don't need a degree to do those kind of jobs. As a new comer, I am still in the middle of my shocking feeling. I am still shock because I always worked at the office, and I never ever working as a waitress, and I have a degree, for God sake! But nobody care with my degree! Ok, my sister in law cares with my degree so I work for her as an admin assistant, which is good, I love it, but other employers don't care! I talked about very hard to get a job in Australia to one Indonesian man who already lives in here like forever, the first answer he gave me was, you need to study and get diploma or certificate first before you can get a job, and I was thinking, I already have a bachelor degree, why would I study and get a diploma? If I really want to study again, I will study to get a master degree, not a diploma, that's silly! But, that's the thing, if you are not graduating from Australian institution, you can't get a job as you desire, you will be a waitress!
Ok, so I need to change the way I'm thinking, maybe I should work as a waitress first and find as many Australian job experience as possible so that I can put that in my CV, regardless I have thousands of job experience in my country, and then I will take a course or study totally different thing and get a diploma or certificate so that I get a job that I really like.
Life is always harder in other people's country! But, no matter what, I like living in Australia, beautiful places, nice people and handsome boyfriend xoxoxo
Thoughen up Dinda, you can do it!!
